The roof is supported by eight double columns. There are eight swan motifs on them, which is why the pavilion is called the Swan Temple.

On the southern slope of the Mathildenhöhe between the "Ernst Ludwig House" and the "Russian Chapel", the Christiansenweg leads as a staircase up to the garden pavilion built in 1914. Albin Müller planned it as part of the outdoor facilities designed for the 1914 exhibition of the artists' colony.

A flat conical roof supported by eight double columns above a painted dome and a patterned mosaic floor form this garden temple that is open on all sides. The black-brown ceramic panels with decorative motifs contrast attractively with the light architrave that runs all around. Eight white-glazed ceramic reliefs with swan motifs span the capital zone and architrave, which is why the garden pavilion is also called the "Swan Temple". Originally designed as small gargoyles, the beaks were intended to drain rainwater from the roof. This function is now fulfilled by separate, more protruding pipes. The temple roof, formerly covered with small ceramic shingles, was replaced by a simple copper roof in 1987 for conservation reasons.

Classical quotes are combined with Art Nouveau motifs, which is particularly evident in the ceiling painting of stylized plant motifs.
