The Kinding fortified church with the patronage of the Birth of Mary is a late medieval fortified church complex located at 378 m above sea level in the town of Kinding in the municipality of the same name in the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt on the northern slope of the Altmühl valley. The complex is listed as an architectural monument under the file number D-1-76-137-2. "Medieval and early modern findings in the area of the Catholic parish church of St. Mary in Kinding with fortified cemetery" are also listed as an archaeological monument.

According to old tradition, the Bavarian feudal lord of Kinding, Ulrich I. Schenk von Geyern, built the church, or at least the nave, after 1310 from the demolition material from his castle. The basement of the church tower, however, dates back to the Romanesque period.

The existing fortifications consist of a lower (southern) cemetery and an upper (northern, slightly higher) cemetery and church ring, (no longer existing) battlements on the upper, northern ring and three defensive towers in a common shield wall, also on the upper ring. The two rings (the term "double ring" would be misleading) were documented as early as 1357; even then there was an inner and an outer cemetery under their protection. The parish church and the Five Wounds Chapel are also located in the upper ring. The three towers on the south side of the upper ring are, however, post-Gothic. The tower on the northwest corner and the middle tower have stepped gables with gable roofs and are open to the inside of the upper ring. The tower on the southeast corner has a brick helmet with a four-sided lantern and curved dome at the top. The wall ledges of the battlement can still be seen from the battlement. Loopholes can also still be seen. In times of immediate threat, the population sought refuge in the upper Bering, while their belongings and especially their livestock were housed in the lower Bering without towers.
