The water baffles its way underground through the karstified Jurassic rock.
The carbonic acid in the water dissolves the lime. Subsequently, the dissolved lime deposits on the air again. Over the years arise from this calcareous sinter - also known as lime tuff - the sinter terraces of the Kaisinger Valley.--- Newly deposited lime sinter is very fragile. Please do not destroy this structure of nature and therefore stay on the way and do not step on the pools !!! Also dogs should be kept away! ---More info:

Great natural spectacle - never seen in this form. It is worthwhile to take a detour away from the actual path along the trail
