    Hiking

    A short story...

The game of boules was already practiced in the 17th century on the passages that crossed the gardens. The garden paths were very popular with British customers who called this meeting place the “Green” and the “Bowling Green” became the Boulingrins.
The gardens underwent many changes. The last one was completed in 1989, after the construction of an underground car park carved into the rock and covered with a concrete slab. On the latter, the current gardens were created to allow a pleasant walk among jets of water and flowers.

What are the best parking options near Jardins des Boulingrins?

The gardens are located above an underground car park, which was constructed in 1989. This makes parking very convenient. Look for signs leading to the Parking du Casino or other nearby public car parks in the Monte-Carlo area. Parking in Monaco is typically paid.

How can I reach Jardins des Boulingrins using public transport?

The Jardins des Boulingrins are centrally located in Monte-Carlo, directly opposite the Casino de Monte-Carlo. Numerous local bus lines serve the Place du Casino area, making it easily accessible. Check the Monaco bus network for routes stopping at 'Casino' or 'Place du Casino'.

What family-friendly activities are available at Jardins des Boulingrins, beyond the Christmas carousel?

Beyond the festive Christmas carousel in winter, the gardens offer a wonderful space for families to enjoy leisurely strolls, picnics on the meticulously maintained lawns, and simply relaxing amidst the beautiful flora and fountains. The open spaces are great for children to explore safely, and the tranquil atmosphere provides a peaceful break from city sightseeing.

Are all paths within Jardins des Boulingrins wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the Jardins des Boulingrins are designed with accessibility in mind. The paths are generally wide and paved, ensuring that most areas, including the main promenades and viewpoints, are wheelchair accessible. This allows visitors with mobility challenges to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the gardens.

How long does it typically take to explore Jardins des Boulingrins?

The time it takes to explore depends on your pace and interest. For a leisurely stroll through the main areas, admiring the plants and views, you might spend anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. If you wish to relax on a bench, take photos, or simply soak in the ambiance, you could easily spend longer.

What kind of plants and flowers can I expect to see in the gardens?

The Jardins des Boulingrins are known for their diverse and vibrant flora. You'll find species such as Japanese lily of the valley, birds of paradise, sacred bamboos, and Chinese hibiscus. The gardens feature meticulously maintained flower beds that change seasonally, alongside majestic palm trees and lush green lawns, all contributing to a rich Mediterranean biodiversity.
