On September 12, 1914, the 5th line of the Belgian army fiercely resisted the advancing Germans here at the Dyle. The enemy force majeure was too great and 325 soldiers were killed.
A little further on is a memorial wall, which commemorates the deceased soldiers. The monument was erected in 1935 by the former soldiers of Rotselaar.
