The Armenmolen is the 11th watermill of the stream source of the Itterschebeek. The mill is located in the village center of Neeritter, near the church. There has been a mill on that spot from 1280. The mill owes its name to the gift of the mill by the owner lord of the manor to the poor.

"...After the refreshment we admire the Armenmolen, a watermill from the 17th century. It was donated by the lord of Borgitter for the poor and therefore bears the name 'Armenmühle'. Fifteen watermills used to stand on the Itterbeek, of which but most of them are no longer available..."

The oldest written mention of a mill at this location dates back to 1280. An Armenmolen was also built in 1535, but it is not clear whether it was located on the same site as the current mill. A document from the Aldermen's Bank in Neeritter states that the current mill was built between 1684 and 1687. The wall irons indicate the year 1686. This mill was founded by the lord of the castle of Borgitter to be donated to the poor. More information: nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armenmolen
