Groot Buggenum Castle, also called Oud Buggenum Castle, is located on the Loorderstraat just outside the Dutch village of Grathem (Central Limburg), which has been part of the merged municipality of Leudal since 2007. The current castle was built on a moated site on the site of a medieval predecessor, the "Meersen". During the rebuilding in the 16th century, the foundations of the square tower of this predecessor were incorporated into the current tower. A number of outbuildings have been built around this tower, some of which have stepped gables. The spire is covered with slates. The windows with rod divisions, the many bluestone decorations and the oval shapes above the windows are striking. The entire castle has whitewashed walls and has the appearance of a neo-Gothic hunting lodge. Internally, the castle has a number of rooms with tiles depicting harvest and hunting scenes. There is a fairytale garden within a stone wall surrounding the castle.
