Battle of Stevensweert 16 to 18.09.2016

Stevensweert is a small community in the south of the Netherlands and was during the 80 years of war (1568 - 1648) a Spanish fortress. The Battle of Stevensweert represents the conquest of this fortress by Dutch troops and the regiment Johann Wolf participated in this presentation. Part of the fortifications have been restored to their original form in recent years, allowing a very good representation of the fights to be enjoyed by the numerous spectators. The regiment, with Belgian, Italian, Hungarian and other German groups, took over the second Spanish unit under the command of our captain and defended the right flank of the fortress against enemy troops partially landed with boats.

In advance of the fortress a large camp of all participants was built. We met many friends and were able to win new ones. An all-round very nice event with a good supporting program and a very good organization.

Stevensweert is a medieval town on the Meuse in the Netherlands. The German twin town of Stevensweert is called Zons am Rhein.
