The tower, which was only inaugurated in June 2022, is approx. 32 m high and made of steel. According to my research, the tower is accessible all year round and at any time.
The view from the top is terrific and, in my opinion, just as spectacular as the Meisterturm in Hofheim.

In 1899 the Taunus Club built an iron observation tower on the top of the mountain, which was renovated in 1999 by the city of Königstein and increased to 14 m. It was the successor model of a wooden tower on the same site, which was dilapidated and was demolished. The tower, which is 14.5 m high with parapet, offered a view over the Rhine-Main plain, although the view was severely limited by the surrounding trees. Climbing the old Hardtberg tower was out of the question for a long time. Climate and time had affected the metal construction so badly that this Königstein landmark had to be closed to visitors a few years ago and was finally demolished. The new building is now taking shape. If everything goes according to plan, the 32 meter high steel ellipse should be completed by the end of 2022.
With a viewing platform almost 27 meters above the ground, the new tower will not only tower above its predecessor, but above all the surrounding trees.
Those who climb up will be rewarded. The panoramic view over the Rhine-Main area will be spectacular, you will be able to look far into the country. However, visitors should stop every now and then on the way up, not just to catch their breath and master the 120 or so stairs to the platform.
On the way up, four experience levels and exploration platforms invite you to find out more about the forest and life in the forest. The tower is now open and keeps what was promised.
