Hiking
If you love peace and quiet and while the crowds are damming up somewhere else, you can walk one of the most important levadas in terms of water management, the Levada dos Tornos!

Hiking
The Levada dos Tornos near Camacha runs almost level along the southern coast, leading you through eucalyptus and laurel forests, always with views of the verdant hillside villages. Beautiful vistas towards Funchal and the Atlantic Ocean open up repeatedly, providing an ideal balance of shady stretches and photo opportunities. This long but pleasant trail is perfect for a leisurely hike, though a few narrow or exposed sections require some attention and sure footing.
