The statue "Cristo Rei do Garajau" or "Coração de Cristo" is located at the Ponta do Garajau viewpoint, which offers a beautiful view. This statue was erected in honor of the Sacred Heart of Christ.

This work by the French sculptor George Serraz is a statue of Christ stretching his open arms towards the ocean.

The model here was the Christ statue in Lisbon, the one in Rio was built later... only larger. In the past, the dead were transported past here and thrown into the sea at the end of the path.
