Until around 1985, this pumping station was a chosen breeding ground for a large colony of house martins (up to 130 nests!). The house martin is having a hard time everywhere. Artificial nests have now been placed with the aim of encouraging the resettlement of the colony. An initiative in the context of the Lokers Nature Plan.

Oud Pomphuis from 1928 arranged the water management at the Moervaart for decades. Their old pump house serves as a bat hotel. Enjoy the aerial antics of the playful bats on summer evenings.
