Until around 1985, this pumping station was a chosen breeding ground for a large colony of house martins (up to 130 nests!). The house martin is having a hard time everywhere. Artificial nests have now been placed with the aim of encouraging the resettlement of the colony. An initiative in the context of the Lokers Nature Plan.
