A historic location where steam trains on the Aalst - Lokeren - Zelzate line thundered over from 1867. This bridge over the Moervaart was blown up twice by retreating armies. In 1918 by the German army and in 1940 by the Belgian army. The bridge, which was repaired by the occupier after 1940, has been preserved unchanged today. The name Spletteren refers to the old name of the surrounding fields.
