Only very few relics still show that this green area, which you cross on the way from the city center (pedestrian zone) to the "Brühl Mitte" tram and bus station, was once a cemetery. A few remaining tombstones stand in a small group off the path, but the central crucifixion group with the crucified Jesus and Mary and John on either side is impossible to miss.

"The Old Cemetery is a listed green area in Brühl.
History: In the 18th century, the parish built a churchyard in the area around the parish church of St. Margareta. In 1794 she set up a baroque crucifixion group there, which Elector Clemens August had previously had built in front of a chapel in Badorf on the Schnorrenberg. In 1827, for hygienic reasons, the city moved the cemetery to Mühlenstrasse, which was then the city limits. The sculpture was also moved. In 1911 the cemetery had become too small. No new burials took place; only hereditary burials were permitted until 1949. In 1974, the city converted the site into a park, but left some 19th-century gravestones standing."
