Osnabrück Central Station was designed in 1895 as the only two-level tower station still in existence in Lower Saxony and serves as a hub for long-distance and regional traffic, used by more than 20,000 travelers and visitors daily.

Osnabrück Central Station was officially opened as the "Central Station" by Kaiser Wilhelm II on April 24, 1895. Here, the Hamburg-Venlo Railway crossed the Hanoverian Western Railway with a height difference of 5.85 meters, which is why the tower station design was chosen.

The station building was designed and built between 1890 and 1894 by Friedrich Schultze, among others.

Completed in 1895, the station building has largely retained its historic structure despite suffering extensive damage during World War II.

The 14 by 28-meter main hall features a 64-m³ round-arched window façade on the southwest side facing the station forecourt.

Station innkeeper Schorn established the Schorn'scher Speisesaal (Station Restaurant), considered one of the city's finest restaurants at the time, in the new station.

Today, it houses a waiting room.
