The Johanneskerk inspired artist Piet Mondrian during his stay in Domburg. He painted the church several times, both realistically and abstractly, and called its facade a source of "sublimity."

Hiking

The tower was built at the end of the 14th century. The nave was also built then, while the north aisle was built in the 15th century. The nave burned down in 1848, and from 1849-1855 the church was rebuilt, using parts of the old church walls. A 15th-century basket arch gate has been preserved.

The tower was restored in 1956, followed by the church in 1963.
