The history of the church in Zeyern begins around 1500. At that time, however, there was only a small wooden church, donated by the Lords of Zeyern, who dedicated to St. Leonhard was consecrated. After a fire in 1632, the small church was badly damaged, but was soon rebuilt. It was enlarged in 1721 under Prince-Bishop Lothar von Schönborn. The church was consecrated in 1732 and in the same year Zeyern was destroyed by the Swedes and the church burned down again. But the Zeyerner rebuilt their church again and so the new church could be consecrated and consecrated in 1784. The interior of the church was almost entirely purchased through donations from parishioners. While the church is built in a simple style, the altars and pulpit are richly decorated.

There are several parking spaces at the church and the main street. Also the info point of the Franconian Forest Association. Some hikes start here. For parents with children, however, we recommend the parking lot at the playground at the eastern end of the village in the direction of Geußer.
