In 1944, the nuclear physicists around Professor Heisenberg and Professor von Weizsäcker moved their experimental reactor to the former beer cellar of the Haigerloch Schwanenwirt. Berlin had become too unsafe due to the constant air raids by the Allies.

So the small town of Haigerloch wrote scientific history with nuclear fission in the beer cellar.
