Strictly speaking, the New Town Hall is already the third town hall in Waren (Müritz), because the second town hall on the New Market fell victim to the town fire of 1699.
The current town hall building was erected between 1791 and 1797 as a three-storey plastered building in the historicizing Tudor Gothic style. The corners are accentuated by slender, tower-like struts that end in spikes. The all-round crenellation completes the hipped roof. On the right side of the building is an open arcade.
After the reconstruction in 1988, the town hall was provided with colored plaster and Schinkel lamps. The old council scales with meter-long weighing beams are located under the arcades. There is a bullet hole on the south side of the town hall from the time of the Kapp putsch of 1920.
Today, the town hall houses the registry office, among other things. On the upper floor, the City History Museum shows a permanent exhibition and special exhibitions on the history of Waren.
