The church also hosts concerts. To consult tourist guides is helpful.

From Easter to October the church is open to visitors and it is possible to climb the tower. Worship services are held on Sundays at 9:30 am. Visiting the church is free of charge, a donation is requested for climbing the tower.

Special features of the church are the different architectural styles that have given the church its appearance over the centuries. Consisting of the remains of the castle chapel built before 1225, which with its slit-shaped windows indicate the Romanesque period, and the nave built before 1333 in the brick Gothic style, the tower with its 54 m height is the highest building in Waren (Müritz) out.

In 1789 the pillars were removed, leaving the Gothic exterior of the church unchanged. Since 1995, the tower has had a viewing platform at a height of 45 m, which can be reached via a staircase (176 steps) and offers a breathtaking view over the old town of Waren and the adjacent lakes.

Evangelical Parish Church of St. Mary.
It was created from the remains of the castle chapel from the beginning of the 13th century. This part of the church is the oldest surviving structure in the city of Waren.
During the Thirty Years War in 1637, the ceiling collapsed after a major fire and the church burned down. A fundamental reconstruction took place in 1790–1792 in the classical style. (Wikipedia)
