The mural by the Berlin painter Edmund Bechtle on Eisenbahnstrasse was created in 1988 at the suggestion of the then Advisory Board for Urban Design as a commission from the city of Eberswalde-Finow. The image was intended to commemorate the neighboring Kupferhammer area and the metalworking tradition in the “Red Finowtal”. The mural will soon disappear from the cityscape because the homeowner wants to provide the facade with thermal insulation.
