Andermatt Swiss Alps
The innovative and sustainable Andermatt Swiss Alps project is turning the traditional Swiss mountain village into an attractive year-round destination. When completed, it will include six 4- and 5-star hotels, around 500 holiday apartments in 42 buildings, 25 exclusive chalets, conference facilities, a swimming pool and an 18-hole golf course. In addition, the Andermatt and Sedrun ski areas have been merged to form the Andermatt-Sedrun SkiArena. The 5-star deluxe hotel The Chedi Andermatt is the flagship of the project. It offers an exclusive spa area and a unique range of gastronomy options, where dishes are prepared in front of the guests in four studio kitchens.

It is exciting to see the change that is taking place here, once more of a small village with a military base, Andermatt has been transformed by investors into more upscale tourism for a number of years. Everyone has to decide for themselves how to find it, but the answer is not that simple.

The new, high-priced holiday village was initiated by the Egyptian investor Samih Sawiris and is, in principle, beautifully built, but seems somewhat deserted when walking through it, but this is certainly also seasonal.
