The "Russdenkmal" at the Devil's Bridge commemorates the local battle between the Russians crossing the Alps under General Suvorov and the French soldiers under General Lecourbe on September 25th, 1799. The so-called Franzosen-Platz was only inaugurated two hundred years later, on September 25th, 1999.
