A scenic circular hiking trail with a small skywalk that offers a great view of the surrounding Eifel and the Uersbachtal.

"With a length of around 5.4 kilometers, this path is not much more than a long walk; in terms of landscape and views, the choice is still worth it. In return, the duration also means that families with children get their money's worth here A playground and boards that clearly guide you through the flora and fauna of the Volcanic Eifel are specifically aimed at them. The ascents remain moderate.

The picnic basket should also be taken with you or the backpack filled, as there are comfortable places to take a break along the route. The Tonhügel hiking car park serves as the starting point, which is why arriving by car is easiest. However, it is also possible to get to Lutzerath using public transport and start hiking from there. The place is not far away.

Please follow the signs for the “Achterhöhe Adventure Trail” or those for the viewing platform. Instead of going up, you first go downhill, which makes for a beautiful view of the surrounding area, as it is still quite open. After a curve towards the southwest, the forest slowly begins to appear.

At first we remain somewhat hesitantly on the edge before we have to enter directly into the thicket. Either way, there is no other way to reach the trail's highlight. The Achterhöhe provides the most spectacular panorama of the route, over the so-called Siebenbachtal. It is already possible to linger and have a picnic, but there will soon be another good place for this.

Cozy in the tangle of trees and for a while next to the stream, it slowly turns to the Three Oaks Hut. Signs also guide children through the local nature until they can let off steam in the playground. If you're lucky, you can even spot adders and grass snakes, i.e. real snakes. After this adventure, a refreshment is therefore deserved. On the last part of the way we also pass the Wildkiste, a small, friendly cart that sells local delicacies."
