Nice view of the Brother Klaus Chapel. The sacred building near Mechernich-Wachendorf, visible from afar, has an extraordinary architecture. Light enters the interior through hundreds of small hemispheres and an opening in the roof. Was designed by the architect Peter Zumthor and dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Flüe.

From here you have a beautiful view of the Brother Klaus Chapel. If you go on a hike in the area, you should definitely visit the chapel. You can find the opening times here: feldkapelle.de

The field chapel, which is relatively plain from the outside, is modeled on the hermitage of the patron saint of the rural population, St. Nicholas of Flüe. A pentagonal, windowless concrete tower stands on a hill above Wachendorf. A bench running halfway around the tower offers seating. The interior of the chapel is surprising. A triangular metal door provides access to the chapel. The door does not line up with the wall, so a halo of light appears around the door when viewed from the inside. A narrow corridor leads into the chapel room. And only here do you notice that small round openings in the concrete wall connect the inside and outside and are closed with glass balls. Mystical light enters the room through these openings. A look up shows that the chapel is open at the top. You can see the sky through an eye-shaped opening. Structures in the concrete allow the light to enter in such a way that the eye appears to be enveloped in rays of light. A truly wondrous place.
