The Bolderberg nature reserve is a heathland area managed by the Limburgs Landschap nature association. It borders the noble estates of Terlaemen and Vogelsanck. The area and the village are named after the eponymous Bolderberg, a prominent hill rising some 20 meters above the surrounding area between the valleys of the Laambeek stream to the north and the Bolderbergbeek stream to the south. While the Bolderberg remained standing due to the abundant presence of iron sandstone, the softer surrounding land eroded.
