The stone cross is south of the Eger Bridge at the roundabout. It is an extremely massive, well-preserved granite cross. A relief depiction of a butcher's cleaver can be clearly seen on the front. During a regulation of the Eger in 1964, workers found the stone, which weighed around ten hundredweight, about thirty meters below the Eger Bridge in the river bed. Historians have determined that the cross is one of the most original, oldest and most primitive late medieval works in the county. The origin is dated to the period 1450-1520.

A hundredweight stone cross from the Middle Ages shows a sublimely carved axe, which certainly suggests an act of violence that is intended to be atoned for with this monument.

A cross of atonement or murder cross (also known as a murder and atonement cross) is the name given to a stone wayside cross erected to atone for a murder or manslaughter. Atonement crosses were usually located at paths and crossroads. Some stone crosses bear the engravings of weapons (crossbows, axes, or similar), possibly the murder weapons.
