loam pits
The area is located in Biezenmortel between the N65 exit Biezenmortel and the Spoorlijn Tilburg-Nijmegen southeast of Udenhout. The loam pits were created by digging loam for the brick manufacture.The site of the brick factory has meanwhile also been acquired by Brabants Landschap and this factory is being demolished.
In the meantime, the lakes have developed into a water and swamp area. Although it is not directly related to this, the area, together with the Loonse and Drunense Dunes, forms a Natura 2000 area, mainly because of the occurrence of the crested newt and the floating water plantain.

On the south side of the Heusdensebaan are the old, shallow clay pits for the clay for the brick factory. The large pond on the north side of the Heusdensebaan is a sand quarry and is very deep.
