The Landhuis is a protected monument in Bornem. It is located on the central village square (Boomstraat 1) and is part of the protected village view (village view Bornem).
The name "Landhuis" comes from an older classicist country house from 1781-1783, which used to be on that site. The building was then used as a town hall.
In 1913, the then Landhuis was demolished and replaced by the current building from 1914 onwards. Edward Careels was the architect of this. Due to the First World War, construction work largely came to a standstill and the building remained without a roof for a long time. The building was not inaugurated until 1925. The country house was used as a town hall until 1961.
