Due to the forest population in the Burgtal and Schliestedter Lah with old pines, oak-hornbeam-beech mixed forests in the south and east of the landscape conservation area and the ecologically important rows of trees, hedges, field copses, open ground areas, springs, small reed beds, still and flowing waters (upper reaches of the Altenau), it is particularly important for nature conservation.
The Burgtal offers shelter to forest animals.
