The Maasvallei River Park is a cross-border landscape park encompassing the Meuse River and its winter riverbed. The Meuse is a striking rainwater river and marks the 40 km long Belgian-Dutch border from Maastricht to Kessenich. The river park is characterized by a diverse landscape with a disorderly structure of old river branches, embankments, river courses, gravel banks, etc., with several adjacent, clearly defined residential developments.
