The Kirner parish church of St. Pankratius is first mentioned around 1200 in the list of properties of the Rheingrafen. It was the seat of the dean's office in Kirn in the Archdiocese of Mainz. The Romanesque church was rebuilt in 1476 as a collegiate church and in a Gothic style. In simultaneous use since the Reformation until the Catholics built their parish church of St. Pankratius in 1892/94.
