Today's hut, with a wonderful view of Bärenbach, was originally designed by the Bärenbach Volunteer Fire Department as a sales stand at the 1992 District Home Day in Kirn. It was then installed as a shelter at its current location and is now integrated into the “Bear Route” vitality tour. There are plaques here that provide information about the life of the notorious robber captain Schinderhannes, who is proven to have lived in Bärenbach for a time,
