"... The Hahnenbach is a left tributary of the Boye in the Ruhr area with a 2.9 km long main course and a 0.7 km long branch.
The main flow originates in Gladbeck-Brauck from an underground collector near Lützenkampstrasse. It flows in a southwesterly direction past the Brauck cemetery and the sports field, through the allotments and under the L 615. Heading further south, it goes along the Südpark to the site of the former Mathias Stinnes 3/4 colliery, which the creek circles to the south, before turning north in front of Halde 19. The Hahnenbach pumping station is located between the Mottbruchhalde and Halde 19, where the branch coming from the north also flows. The mouth of the Boye is 400 meters further south-west on the outskirts of Bottrop, and the water is pumped through pipes along this route.
After the creek served as a dumping ground for decades, a parallel sewer was built in 2008, which has been in operation since 2009. Since September 2010, the creek has been renatured again as part of the Emscher system conversion project. The work should be completed by 2012. This will also include the Our Hahnenbach adventure trail, which will offer differently designed lounge and access areas, a "Blue Classroom", art objects, information boards and small footbridges at eight stations. ..."

The big hub in all directions. Here you are spoiled for choice. Only the route to the west leaves something to be desired at the moment - perhaps it will be...
