Wandern, Radfahren, Mountainbiken, Klettern - draußen ist es am schönsten.
At the end of our vacation we drove to Mori today to climb the Via ferrata Monte Albano. The via ferrata is wonderfully located in the almost vertical wall above the small town and offers a wonderful view. do. Therefore, some other via ferrata enthusiasts joined us in the morning - but the initial hustle and bustle dissolved relatively quickly due to the length. A little anecdote - before it was renovated (and thus considerably reduced), this via ferrata was once climbed by Reinhold Messner personally, who actually praised the via ferrata, but complained after the renovation that the via ferrata had lost its alpine character. We have to state that the via ferrata would not have been feasible for us without the numerous iron brackets that were inserted into the rock during the renovation, but that as it is now, it simply invites you to enjoy it. A nice end to two weeks of hiking, climbing and via ferrata :)

This morning we took the bus to Riva del Garda shortly before 8 am. From there we first climbed about 600 meters in altitude before entering the Via dell 'Amicizia ferrata. Even if the iron ladders of this via ferrata are a little old and require a little trust in God, the beautiful view made us happy to take the risk. At the end there was the ascent of the Cima SAT, which rises above Riva. From there we followed an old military path up to the Grotta Daei, a mountain at the entrance to the Ledro Valley, the slopes of which are criss-crossed with gun emplacements from the 1st World War and which itself is pierced by tunnels, all of which were only armed conflicts in the 1st World War served. Some remains of these positions (6cm machine gun casemate and spotlight stand) are still there today and were visited by us. From the Grotta Daei we then descended to Biacesa, before heading home through the Ledro Valley to Molina di Ledro :)

We have been living at this great campsite on Lake Ledro for ten days now and every morning our gaze falls on an imposing mountain on the opposite side of the lake. After a short study of the maps we were able to identify it as Monte Tremalzo and since it was within our reach, we decided to take a look at the lake from its top today;) We set off in the morning in sunny weather, which (luckily) became a bit cloudy, as we climbed to the summit. So we were spared both rain and the scorching sun on this ascent. The view was tremendous. On the descent we followed the Tremalzopass a little, which offered us the best views of Lake Garda when the sun was now shining. The highlight of the day, but especially my day (Sandra doesn't get too warm with snakes), was the encounter with a blindworm :)

Today we went from Molina di Ledro to Riva del Garda. The morning descent through the Ledro Valley was a real pleasure hike, but on the way back we had to make a little more effort;) The route also had a lot to offer historically, as the Ledro Valley is the historical border between Italy and Austria-Hungary. On the way there we descended over the 'Sentiero Defense Wall', which derives its name from the defensive position of the KuK monarchy in the 1st World War. The Italian troops ran against the barrage for years and finally blew it up. The way to Riva was still denied them, as the KuK troops now simply blew up the entire way, the Strada Ponale. Since the Italians rebuilt it after the path with the ruins of the defensive wall, we were able to hike it today on the way back - because meanwhile (luckily for hikers and bikers) a tunnel leads the car traffic from Riva into the Ledro valley :)

After exploring the wonderful Regina del Lago climbing garden at the entrance to the Ledro Valley for two days and needing a little break for our hands, we went to Lake Idro today. But we couldn't and didn't want to stop climbing, so we decided to go via ferrata. Since Lake Idro has three ferrates that are also close together, we climbed the Ferrata Sasse on the way from Baitone to Vesta, then climbed the two ferrates Fregio and Ginestre via Vesta and finally hiked back over the beautiful smugglers' path. When counting the km, komoot was stingy today, probably because of the many steep passages - my polar watch certified us almost 15km;)

After yesterday, due to the catastrophic traffic situation on the Italian side of the Brenner, we had pretty much the worst outward journey I can remember (and we also had to pitch the tent late in the evening), Lake Garda obviously decided today to compensate us with dream weather . With light cloud cover we started after a longer sleep in Molina di Ledro. Limone sul Garda was the goal and as soon as we were standing on the shores of Lake Garda, the sun really came out. Unfortunately, that made the ascent over the Sentiero del Sole a bit more difficult, as beautiful as the view was. In such splendid weather, the more than 800 meters of altitude in steeply sloping terrain were really exhausting. We were rewarded with an incredible view. And because all of this took longer than we had planned, we didn't arrive at the campsite until dark ... but we were able to observe a mouse that was more than just good in the food :)

At the end of our vacation, we used the car for the first time in a week and drove to beautiful Seefeld in Tyrol. A friend recommended the brand new panoramic via ferrata to the Seefelder Spitze as an easy tour to round off the holiday. In wonderfully sunny weather, we hiked from the valley station of the Rossalmbergbahn to the entrance to the via ferrata, which quickly overcame a height of almost 300m and quickly led us to the Seefelder Spitze. The subsequent descent into the valley was another visual highlight of our vacation with great visibility and a really nice end.

Before anyone says "It's the Zugspitze again" - Germany's highest mountain can be reached in many ways and each of these trails differs from the others due to the varied topography of the Zugspitze. Because our 'reinforcement' had already successfully completed two of these variants (ascent via the Reintal and the Stopselzieher) and was eager to finally reach the Zugspitze via the Höllental in the best weather, we (gladly) allowed ourselves to be spread out, another detour close. The weather was awesome! We started at just before 6 am and hiked through one of the most spectacular hiking trails Germany has to offer with the Höllentalklamm, the two via ferrata and the Höllentalferner (my and Sandra's first glacier crossing).

Today we went with two friends up to the mountain station of the Alpspitzbahn or to the Kreuzeck and from there to the Bernadeinkopf over the Mauerläufersteig. Due to an injury, unfortunately only three of us went to the summit, which fortunately did not annoy the fourth in our group :) We were very happy when we were up - the Mauerläufersteig is (supposedly) Germany's most difficult via ferrata and awaits with many exposed and also exhausting passages. We like to sign the overall rating 'D' and the interim D / E passages made us sweat more than just a little. We probably wouldn't do it again ... but it was nice;)

Almost two years ago, the ascent to the Zugspitze via the Stopselzieher did not work (I had a cold and arrived too late and so I had an acute attack of altitude sickness at an altitude of almost 2,000m). I can't remember how today, but my better half brought me down safely back then - and so there was an open score with Germany's highest mountain, which was settled today. In the best weather, the ascent today was a real pleasure mountaineering. At the summit I found the courage to ask a very important question ... And got a yes :)))
