"Across the Rhine plain south of Karlsruhe, a security line was drawn even before the main construction period of the West Wall, which currently consisted mainly of weakly concreted buildings of expansion strength "C". This security line later became known as the 'Ettlinger Riegel'." Over time until the outbreak of the Second World War, further, more heavily armored facilities were built, which even included standard structures (R 30) for a casemated battery.
