Reinbek Castle in Reinbek in southern Schleswig-Holstein was built as one of the ancillary residences of the ducal house of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf in the 16th century. It is one of the earliest buildings from the reign of Duke Adolf I and is considered one of the best examples of the Renaissance in Schleswig-Holstein. The castle was restored after renovations of the 19th century from 1977 to 1987 and today serves as the art and cultural center of the city of Reinbek. (Wikipedia)

A nice little hike around the mill pond and the castle Reinbek. It starts right at the castle and leads left through the small park to Ladenstr. We then turned right into the Bahsenallee, where are very beautiful houses with beautiful grounds. It goes along the street to the intersection Buchtallee with the small figures on the street. Now turn right again and you are to the small path after a hundred meters again right into nature. After a short distance you reach the nature reserve Bille. A short steep climb and it's right again through a beautiful forest. Already the lake comes within sight and a wide view to the beautiful houses on the lake. The path now leads slightly higher and you reach an old road that leads through a landscaped path with bridge and solid stone shingle on the sides. Very rustic, because in the middle of the forest. Finally you reach the street Am Mühlenteich where you quickly reach the bridge in front of the castle. There, the view from the bridge to the dam is worthwhile. Now you are back at the parking lot. Tour is to do with light footwear in dry weather (since forest).

The castle, built in the 16th century in the Dutch Renaissance style, is worth seeing. It is both an architectural monument, a cultural center and an exhibition hall.It is located in a charming park not far from the S-Bahn station, just a few minutes by train from Hamburg.Since 1985, special exhibitions of modern European ceramics from the collection of Hamburg resident Dr. Hans Thiemann have been shown in Reinbek Castle during the summer months. It is considered one of the most important private collections in Germany and offers an excellent overview of ceramic work in Europe after theSecond World War.museen-sh.de/museum/DE-MUS-277418
