The Gasometer Herne is a bit overshadowed by its big brother in Oberhausen. The gas tank of the former Hibernia chemical works in Herne, it was built in 1927 as a coke gas tank but operated after 1960 as a nitrogen gas tank. Its dimensions are 44 meters high and around 27 meters in diameter.
