Bochum's city park is the oldest communal landscape garden in the Ruhr area after the Essen city garden. The city park was created after a municipal resolution of 1869 from May 1876 in the style of an English garden. The park, several buildings and the entire ensemble of the district are today due to their special historical and artistic significance listed.
