Half out of nostalgic reasons (my wife grew up there) and half out of curiosity, we drove to Eppendorf today to explore the still relatively new mining trail there. And if the nostalgia hadn't made up at least 50%, it would have been a failure. The path is moderately or not at all signposted and unfortunately, apart from the information boards, you don't really see much mining history. But the weather was nice and almost dry, so everything was fine.

Today my visit to the doctor in Bochum Hofstede was scheduled for 3 p.m. So first a round through Riemke and above all Grumme. This actually quite nice part of town has the bad luck to be between A40 and A43. Otherwise it is very green. After a short storming of the Tippelsberg, we first went above the Grummer Teiche over the path on the Kötterberg and on to Auf dem Güstenberg. With so many mountains, it went back over the old railway line in a loop towards Grummer Teiche. This green strip is really an inner-city recreation area (if you don't mind the constant noise and more of the A40). The Grummer Bach flows through numerous ponds, starting from the Rottmannsteich over Agger- and Bigge to the Grumeteich. Further into the Kötter, then Gumbeck and Kaiseraue ponds, to then end in the Constatin, Mühlen and Tipulu ponds (at least in Grumme).

How do they say? After the doctor's visit is before a walk or something like that. In any case, I used the nice weather to take a short walk through the south of Herne after yesterday's day without fresh air. However, I did not choose the beautiful side with the Flottmannpark etc, but went the Drei-Brücken-Weg (railway-motorway-road) towards Holsterhausen. There is the largest advertising pillar in Hernes, namely an old gasometer. The industrial area created there is one of the more beautiful of its kind due to the greening. In an arch it went back to the starting point.

Despite the bad weather I was drawn to the north of the forbidden city today. From Huckarde it went around and over the Deusenberg. In addition to the Emscher, which has already been renatured here, the Deusenberg offers a beautiful view of the forbidden city. It is thanks to my chronicler duty (and only this) that the electrical box ended up in the photo gallery. On the other hand, it shows the great attachment to the city football club, which is to be rated positively in principle.

After I had to take a blood sample this morning, I used the dry, but also very cold weather afterwards to further reactivate my fitness. It went from Sodinger Strasse in the direction of the academy, on over the Vossnacken in the direction of Horsthausen and then along the RHK home in Baukau.

In contrast to Lola, I didn't run, but just pressed STOP at the end of the tour, but not SAVE / END. I was able to correct the correction of the tour in terms of kilometers, but I think the average speed is a bit too high, especially since we were on very muddy terrain in between.
But now to the essentials: The tour led again to the south, this time to the south of Herne. From the car park of the furniture store Zurbrüggen we went on car-free paths towards the Flottmannhallen including the sculpture park. We continued in the direction of the Zillertal and then on the Stemberg. Here I saw Gaby alias GRK with her mother in an unknown way. Since we didn't know each other, I only noticed this when I watched their tour. After a muddy path behind the Bochumer Reiterschaft, when sleet started, we went back to the starting point. In better weather, absolutely recommendable and in the Stemberg area also an expandable tour towards Gysenberg or Hiltroper Landwehr.
