The pond of 't Zwart Goor...
A very nice idyllic location to dream away from a prince or princess, I don't know.
Keep dreaming... maybe you will see your fantasy become reality in the reflection.
If so, then you ate too many mushrooms...
Historical interpretation:
The former Zwartgoorheide was a swampy area, with five large fens. They were actually swamps from which the peat or 'nut' was extracted, which after drying was burned as peat in the fireplace. Four fens were drained. One fen remained: "the pond of the Zwart Goor".
In 1856 Charles Splingard bought the moors and woods. The Zwart Goor was transformed into a park landscape with villa and avenues. During the First World War the fen was deepened into a large pond.
In 1919, the domain was decorated with decorative concrete buildings on behalf of Martin Verbeeck - director of cement factories. The pond was beautifully constructed as a swimming and rowing pond, with associated changing rooms. In the period after the Second World War, this place was a popular place for all couples to have their wedding photos taken. The pond is now the favorite stopping place of the fishing club of the residents of Service Center 't Zwart Goor.
