With the chapel, the founders Peter and Ruth Eckes wanted to create “a non-denominational place of contemplation, encounter, silence, relaxation and contemplation” (from the Nieder-Olm newsletter). The planning team made up of Lisa Denecke (interior design graduate) and the architecture firm Kissler Effgen und Partner succeeded in doing this. The large glass front behind the altar offers a wide view of the wine-growing town of Zornheim, the Rhine plain and, on a clear day, the skyline of Frankfurt. The outdoor facilities were designed by the landscape architect Bierbaum. The chapel was consecrated in December 2021.

The chapel in the Zornheim vineyards is a foundation of Zornheim's honorary citizen Peter Eugen Eckes and his wife Ruth. It is intended to be an ecumenical place of silence, contemplation, relaxation and reflection that is open to everyone. (Opening times: daily 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)
On December 18, 2021, the chapel was blessed by the Catholic pastor Hubert Hilsbos and the Protestant dean Andreas Klodt. After the celebratory ecumenical act, Mr. Eckes symbolically handed over the chapel with the associated property of the Mönchbäumchen vineyard to the local mayor Dennis Diehl by means of a deed of donation.
Based on an idea by interior design student Lisa Denecke from 2019, the chapel was designed in the form of a tent made of five oversized wooden triangles. The Wiesbaden architectural office KISSLER EFFGEN + Partner designed the construction plan for the chapel and implemented it in a wood and glass construction with six craftsmen after a construction period of eight months. Adapted to the topography of the site, a stepped interior with a sandstone altar and an ambo was created. From the 20 wooden bench seats you have a good view of Zornheim and a phenomenal view through the expansive panorama window when the weather is nice. The lighting in the evening hours is provided by a solar system installed especially for this purpose.
