The St. John's Church is a church in the Aurich district of Vaihingen:
The structural findings of the St. John's Church indicate that it was founded in the 10th century. The basement of a stone defensive tower built around 900 with 1.6 meter thick walls was probably converted into a chapel before the turn of the millennium. A sacristy with a Romanesque barrel vault was added to the north side of the tower, in whose unplastered interior loopholes and the beginnings of a battlement and battlement are still visible. A short nave was added in the 11th century. The little church was rebuilt in the early Gothic style around 1250. The cross-ribbed vault in the tower choir dates from this period, with a Lamb of God as the keystone and three grotesque faces as the supporting stones of the vault belts, in which the medieval belief in demons is manifested. The fourth corner remained empty because evil was to be banished there. Some of the Gothic tracery windows have also been preserved. The church acquired its current size at the end of the Middle Ages by extending the nave, which was also widened asymmetrically to the north in the pre-Reformation period.
In 1591, galleries were added on both long sides. The high, pointed church tower was added to the half-timbered upper floor of the tower around 1600; since then, the external appearance of the church has hardly changed. The remains of a wall that also enclosed the cemetery, which was relocated in the early 17th century, are a reminder of its once defensive character. Inside are the restored tomb of the pastor Joachim Keller from 1620 and the tombstone of the Catholic priest Nicolaus Schulin from 1514.
The art of the 20th century is represented by two stained glass windows that the artist Robert Eberwein created as part of the major church renovation in 1955. A rectory with a stable was added to the church in 1713. Today it serves only as a parish hall; it is no longer needed as a rectory.

        Aurich Evangelical Parish.
The church was built around 900. It was initially a defensive tower, which was then converted into a church tower. It was then frequently added on and the nave was created. Around 1500 it was the size it is today. The gallery was built around 16000. In 1950 the inside of the church was redesigned again.
