Information board No. 9 on the Geo-Adventure Trail explains why 50 million years ago the continent of Africa changed the appearance of today's Palatinate so seriously. Because: At that time the Upper Rhine Rift was created, triggered by a collision between the African and European continental plates.
In the foreground is the DÜW district of Ungstein with the striking tower of the late baroque, prot. Salvator Church.
