From the Baiersbronn school center train station we went up to the Rinkenkopf between Tonbach and Baiersbronn.

Over the snowy paths to the Sattelei hiking hut (managed by the 5*S Hotel Bareiss) and then on to the Rinkenkopf tower with a view of the villages.

After a short tour of the "town center" back

    1. No big words are needed for this short tour: it's always worth a trip.

Gray and cloudy weather in the valley, bright sunshine up on the Hornisgrinde, snow-covered paths and an ice-cold wind.

    1. Golden October ☀️

Perfect weather for a bike ride.

That's roughly how we wanted to drive the Kraut-und-Rüben-Radweg to Schweigen.

The end result was a nice 60km in great weather.

    1. The hiking weekend comes to an end.

And with that, the third and last part of the hut hopping tour is over.

From the hiker's car park on the road, we first went steeply downhill to the Siebeldinger Hütte to eat something. But if you go down, you have to go up again, mainly because the Böchinger Hütte was

    1. Every year on the 1st Saturday in October, the forest marathon takes place in Wilgartswiesen.

We wanted to be there this time too.

The weather didn't mean it so well, because it only rained once, namely continuously 🌧☔️💦.

Despite this, over 230 of the 307 registered participants started.

    1. As a conclusion, we wanted to do a little round on the Schattberg Ost again.

      Like I said, we wanted...

It snowed heavily overnight again, so that the ridge path to Dillinger Eck turned out to be impossible or too dangerous after a short test route.

The snowdrifts give an idea of where the path ends and

    1. On the advice of locals we are on the Kohlmaiskopf this morning.

We were rewarded with an untouched landscape.

      Freshly snowed paths, without tracks.

Silence in the forest, only the cracking of the branches and softly trickling snow from the trees.

Oh yes... and: suddenly you can't find your way anymore

    1. Sometimes you have to be flexible.

The original plan to walk comfortably through the snow to the middle station turned into a search for the way.

More than 40cm of fresh snow fell overnight and in the morning and the paths were not yet prepared.

So we walked a few meters along a path that we already knew
