The place where the refuge at the Melkhörndüne dune crossing had stood for a long time is currently deserted. Here one could seek refuge when the weather made it necessary. The missing hut was dismantled by the employees of the island community. It makes room for a new hut, a donation from the service clubs on Langeoog, which will be built on the same site.
