A romantic park that invites you to take an inspiring walk with its many small monuments.

The landscape park was commissioned in 1789 by Freiherr Christian Truchsess von Wetzhausen. Somewhat hidden in the forest, a circular path leads through the park, which is equipped with monuments and small buildings. The Minnesängerplatz, the artificial ruin and the monuments to Ulrich von Hutten, Götz von Berlichingen and Franz von Sickingen represent the builder's glorifying attitude to the German past. At the beginning of the 19th century, the baron gathered around him a group of writers, including Friedrich Rückert and Jean Paul, with the “Bettenburger Tafelrunde”, which is why the term “Franconian Weimar” is also used in this context.

Christian Truchsess had a landscaped park laid out with monuments of romantic knights on the hillside opposite the Bettenburg, separated by the road. This park has recently been restored as a natural monument. The castles & palaces quality hiking trail marked with a green castle tower leads past it. In this park there is a small chapel, the pillar of sibling love, a memorial depicting Götz von Berlichingen and Franz von Sickingen, a memorial to Ulrich von Hutten, the Minnesängerplatz with stone stepped gables and benches, an artificial ruin and the poet's house, a little out of the way , where Friedrich Rückert dreamed and wrote.
