Good starting point for tours through Frankfurt and the surrounding area.
    Also worth seeing architecturally.

The train station is easy to reach and a great starting point for a wide variety of tours. Within a few kilometers there are many interesting places to discover, such as the old town, the Römer, the Taunus complex, the old opera with fountain and the Paulskirche.

      So definitely worth a visit.

Before the main train station was built on the Galgenfeld, the three western train stations stood on the outskirts of the city, the Gallusanlage, the area of today's train station district, as the end points of the Taunus Railway, the Main-Weser Railway and the Main-Neckar Railway.
Due to the increased number of travelers at the end of the 19th century, the capacity of the three western train stations became increasingly inadequate. However, changes were made more difficult by the territorial affiliations of the states surrounding the Free City of Frankfurt. After the annexation of Frankfurt, Nassau and Hesse-Kassel by Prussia in 1866, the relevant obstacles were largely eliminated, so that planning for a central station began in earnest.
Of the 34 originally planned platform tracks, 18 were ultimately realized by 1888. Until Leipzig Central Station was built in 1915, Frankfurt Central Station was the largest train station in Europe. In 1924 the station was expanded and the number of tracks increased to 25.

Even today, travelers are amazed at the then novel construction of the steel barrel vaults above the platforms. Today, however, these are significantly longer than their superstructure.
