After the War of 1866, the Duchy of Hesse-Nassau was incorporated into the Kingdom of Prussia. The owner of the vineyard and purveyor to the court of the Prussian King and later first German Emperor Wilhelm 1, Georg Kroeschel, took this as an opportunity to rename the vineyard “König-Wilhelmsberg”.
As a reminder, the stone column with a Prussian eagle made by the Fulda sculptor Adam Kramer was erected in 1875. The base of the monument has a relief image of Kaiser Wilhelm 1's laurel wreath on one side. Lettering has a gold background on three sides.
