Hiking

The Protestant St. Mary's Church is a late Gothic church in the East Westphalian town of Höxter. The church, which is under monument protection, was consecrated in 1283 and, together with the associated former Minorite monastery, today forms a location in the “Monastery Region in the Cultural Land District of Höxter”.

It is a former monastery church, built from 1281 and, according to the information board on site, only consecrated in 1320. After the abolition of the Minorite monastery in 1804, the church was initially used as a hospital and later as a storage room. In 1980 the building was renovated and is now used by the Protestant parish of St. Marien. The church is very close to the Weser cycle path, so a short detour is recommended.
